Jim Bruce Blues Guitar Lessons - Watch Over Me (Guy Davis)

Blues Guitar Lessons http://www.playbluesguitar.eu I was reading the paper one day in Indiana, as it happens, and I saw an ad for a Guy Davis gig in Ann Arbor, a small University town south of Detroit. I jumped in the car, picked up a friend in Michigan on the way, and off we went. It was important to get there early, I told my friend, as he's a great blues guitar player and there'll be standing room only. Imagine my surprise on arriving to find about 30 people in the audience! Incredible lack of appreciation of a big talent. We talked after the gig, but that's a story for another day ... Watch Over Me is a favorite of mine - its played with basic chords but with some special moves added by guy which gives it a magic flavor. Enjoy and let me know what you think. Jim Bruce Acoustic Blues Guitar - Scrapper Blackwell - Back Door Woman

Blues Guitar Lessons http://www.playbluesguitar.eu Scrapper Blackwell was an extremely creative blues man, always adding that extra unusual chord combination to put a unique stamp on his songs. this open D songs follows that general rule of surprising the listener, but also has enough cliché inside it too keep us comfortable - (my, my - erudite Jim) Another thing I like about Blackwell's stuff is the way he puts the words together. When he sings 'I left my baby in the back door cryin'' you can just about see it. When he sings he's got the blues, you just know he has and he's had them all his life. It just comes over. If you going for blues guitar lessons and want to learn authentic acoustic blues guitar, don't just go for the standard stuff that one plays. Search out the work of Scrapper, Floyd Council, Pink Anderson, Gus Cannon, Bo Carter and loads of other 'minor' figures. One of the most unsung artists - he deserves a lot more recognition. Hope you like it, Cheers Jim http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rE6UH2pN3JU

Jim Bruce Guitar Lessons - Mark Knopfler Style Finger Picking Guitar Lesson

Blues Guitar Lessons http://www.play-blues-guitar.eu Free Robert Johnson Lesson http://youtunerecords.com/lp/jblet.html Blues Guitar Lessons Previews http://jim-bruce-blues-guitar-lessons.info/ One of the best pickers ever, Mark created this classic folk-rock song way-back. I don't play Romeo and Juliet in the same way, but use simple chords (my left hand was never very clever!) I tried to capture the feel of it, rather than copy it. I hope you have some fun with it. Blues Guitar Lessons - Hesitation Blues in Gary Davis Style

Hesitation Blues Lesson http://jim-bruce-blues-guitar-lessons.info/hesitation-blues-guitar-lesson-reverend-gary-davis/ Complete Acoustic Blues Guitar Course http://www.play-blues-guitar.eu Free Lesson and Albums (Love In Vain by Robert Johnson) http://youtunerecords.com/lp/jblet.html Deep River Blues Lesson on Youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4lMZxM5AFQ The latest blues guitar lesson I produced is Hesitation Blues by Reverend Gary Davis. Although there are loads of versions of this song, not too many of them hit the mark like the Reverend's work. One of the hall marks of his playing is the two finger picking, which he has in common with other formidable blues guitar pickers such as Broonzy, Lightnin' Hopkins, Mance Lipscombe and Doc Watson. With all of these guitarists, the music sounds fluid and syncopated - this is our goal as modern guitarists, 'How do we get that sound?' Always, the sense of pace found in this wonderful music is a challenge, and also the level of dexterity required. It's best to use two fingers like Davis did. Often, two fingers change the feel and timing, making it too pretty. In fact, that is probably one of the worst things we do to these old picking styles, adapting them to modern playing techniques and making it just too pretty and intricate. That said, it's a bit tough for us, trying to emulate the blues guitar legends, and they might either be urging us on, or rolling in their graves! It's difficult for us to try to do because we are just trying to be 'bluesy' in our modern world - these guys WERE 'the blues'. Keep it real. Have a lot of fun and take it easy.
